Study Visit in Berlin: Sharing Results of the Pilot Actions and Revising the Toolkit

On June 13–14, 2024, the MELODY project held its second study visit in Berlin, hosted by Roter Baum Berlin. This visit brought together the international project partners for two days of discussion, collaboration, and reflection on the ongoing development of the project’s innovative approach to music-based civic education.

The first day began with a Steering Committee meeting, where partners reviewed the project’s progress, assessed past activities, and outlined the next steps. Special attention was given to Work Package 4, which will play a key role in the final dissemination of the project’s results.

On the afternoon of June 13, the group visited the Langer See Mobile Youth Centre, a program run by Roter Baum that delivers educational opportunities to young people across Berlin. This visit provided valuable insights into how mobile youth services can effectively foster civic engagement, aligning with MELODY’s goals of integrating music and democratic participation.

On June 14, the partners gathered at the “Jugendfunkhaus” Youth Centre, a space in Berlin that plays an active role in offering music-based activities for young people. The partners had the opportunity to visit this interesting center and explore its work within the broader context of the project’s objectives and methodology.

During the meeting, the partners reviewed the pilot actions that have already been carried out, discussing feedback collected through the Journals completed by teachers and facilitators while implementing the methodology. This feedback is serving as the foundation for the revision of the MELODY Toolkit, ensuring that it better meets the needs of educators and strengthens the project’s methodology.

This study visit was a crucial step in refining the MELODY project’s approach and strengthening collaboration among partners as the project moves forward.
